Final Exam Essay

There are many factors that have shaped the American experience from the end of the civil war through the present day. First, many events that fit this question have occurred during the civil rights, such as Martin Luther King creating Christian Leadership Conference with Charles K. Steele, and Fred L. Shuttlesworth. Also, the Brown V. Board of education, and also the Council of Federated Organizations (COFO), a network of civil rights groups that includes CORE and SNCC, launches a massive effort to register black voters during what becomes known as the Freedom Summer. It also sends delegates to the Democratic National Convention to protest--and attempt to unseat--the official all-white Mississippi contingent. Now, the Star-Wars act was also a great factor that shaped America that it is today. Lastly, Apollo 11 where it was a great experience for America technological wise, and for the better of mankind. In Closing, many events from the civil war to present time today have shaped our country and gave all Americans a great or bad experience that makes up our nation today.

The Christian Leadership Conference, the Brown V. Board of Education, and COFO all were very interesting and great factors that shaped Americas experience. First, all these events had to do with African American freedom and rights. Now, MLK was a great inspiration to all African Americans in the US, where he is one of the reasons of why segregation laws are not alive today. Next, Brown V. Board education is a great factor in the American history as it made the court realize how segregation in schools is unconstitutional, therefore the blacks and whites could be in same schools. Lastly, COFO stood for the Council of Federated Organizations, where it had ), a network of civil rights groups that includes CORE and SNCC, launches a massive effort to register black voters during what becomes known as the Freedom Summer. The (COFO) Council of Federated Organizations was created in 1962 by local civil rights activists who joined forces with the SNCC, NAACP, SCLC, and CORE representatives. In the fall of 1963, COFO launched a project called Freedom Vote, which gave blacks parties in registering and voting, and therefore making the Mississippi and Federal government know that blacks wanted to vote, even though there might be no actions token whatsoever. The organization ran a mock election parallel to the gubernatorial race. The COFO launched another project in the fall of 1963, which is the Mississippi Freedom Summer project.
