Early years

Birth(year and place)-Born in Tupelo,Mississppi on Jan. 8 1935.He moved to Memphis tennesse with his family at the age of 13

Family background(Mother and father),schooling,general early information.-He was an only child to 18-year-old Vernon Elvis and 22-year-old Gladys Love Presley.Elvis was close to both parents due to him beingan only child.In school, he was viewed as an average student. His teacher encouraged him to sing in a school play in which he placed 5th.He recieved his first guitar around the age of 11 for his birthday.

Description of early personality traits,hobbies,interest in music etc.-Elvis was labeled as a shy kid, when playing his guitar he never sang infrontof others.While attending church with his family is where he found his first muscial inspiration.He began a musical groupin with neighbors which built up his confidence and became able to perform for others. Started playing shows at school and around his area.

First recordings

Recording first few songs/obtaining a manager-Elvis walked into Sun records to pay for time to record music just to hear what he sounded like. The boss at Sun kept his name in mind and asked him back for a song that he felt suited him

Struggle trying to make it into music business/Finding the proper voice to be succesful-Sun records was looking for a white man that could sing soulfully but Elvis was still struggling to find his image.

First songs to play on the radio/playng first show-Sun records brought along two other men to help Elvis, and began booking shows and apperances for them

Signing with RCA records-Elvis' blues sounding voice caught the eyes of bug record label RCA in which he signed a contract with

Fame

First number one hit/successful album-Elvis began recording in studio while away performing shows. RCA also added tracks recorded in Sun records and made his debut album. The album was an immediate success whichbrought instant fameto Elvis

Tv apperances and tours-He began touring accross America in order to promote his music. This generated crowds of screaming fans at every event he attended.

Movie contract-Began his televison and movie career due to his goodlooks and growing popularity.

Creation of Rock n Roll/image/effect on teenagers-Elvis was labelled as a "hazard to society,for his motions to rouse the sexual passions of teenage youth.During this era, people had never seen a performer such as Elvis, especially due to the fact that he waswhite.

Personal life

Draft into the military-On March 24 1958 Elvis was drafted into the military. He stated that he was eager to be in the army and wished to be treated
