Preliminary Design Model

Modeling framework includes three group computer systems, mechanics, and applications. The model group is divided into three modeling levels which branch out behavioral functional and structural, the frame work models are defines as simple or detailed frame works which can be used. Computer models describe communication hardware and processing elements software parts, and communication links. The precedence, timing process, and relations are described as the software portion of the system implementation process. The physical aspect of the information placement process is known as the mechanical system. The application system is also associated with a data flow, triggering, timing, and diagram specific controls. Its focus is on the control process and used for feedback regarding achieves from implementation control and design.

Design Trade off Approach

The cost is an area designer concentrate on budget while attempting to meet or exceed the customers satisfaction. Bye reducing cost the concentration is placed on factoring in the budget intelligent decisions are made based on competiveness and value. The decisions are also based on need of the customer and the scenario of the mission. The focus is placed upon five drivers he designer process, cost of design approach, engineering design, decision and process of design, cost of optimizing who will use the server.

Pre-installation activities:

These activities can be performed several days or even weeks ahead of time. In order to adequately plan and prepare the server before installing the software, it is necessary to use the appropriate planning and preparation topics as a guide through the activities that must be accomplished.

* Upgrading to Microsoft Vista from either MICROSOFT 2000 or XP

* Replacing Licensed Internal Code the same version and release to support

* Installing MICROSOFT Vista on a new server or logical partition

These activities include confirming the order, checking the amount of vacant disk space, backing up servers, and clearing out the media device. In a software upgrade or replacement, some of these tasks are required. If those tasks are not performed, then the installation will have to be restarted.

Installation process:

The installation process begins as one starts following the instructions in one of the procedural topics. For example, to upgrade to the new release, the choice might be automatic installation. Automatic installation installs the Licensed Internal Code, the Microsoft operating system Microsoft Vista and licensed programs.

Post-installation activities:

The last step of each procedure directs one to use a completion checklist. There may be extra steps, such as saving the system and performing setting up activities on workstations for the operating systems. Some other events could consist of modifying the system, or setting control limits for user-based products. Before starting production work on the system, it is important to effectively guard the system from illegal use.

The following figure shows an example of one type of software installation(IBM, 2001).
