Scientific thinking uses the methods of understanding material and psychosocial universe (Kirby&Goodpaster, 2007). When dealing with technological thinking, this style of thinking can be useful in workplace decision-making processes. Technological decision-making processes use observation, hypothesis formulation, experimentation, and verification (Kirby&Goodpaster, 2007). This style is investigating by nature, using the normal decision-making processes can assist in this thinking process, but the scientific method also can be distinguished from appeal to authority (Kirby&Goodpaster, 2007). Scientific thinking uses a higher degree of information gathering, and decisions are based on facts, not what could happen? In the decision making process, a scientific thinking solution produces large returns for establishments, which spend the suitable money and time.

Critical thinking to me is to think understandingly by double checking perceptions, focus on crucial facts, paying close attention to the quality of my thinking, and asking questions. I think one must also think deliberate; this includes accepting responsibility for my thinking and its results, understanding before judging, and to focus on the problem before attempting to solve.

Critical thinking involves in maintaining a questioning attitude, and double checking both the reliability of information and their interpretation of the information. The critical thinkers are knowledgeable of their biases and limitations, fair-minded, keenly aware of the powerful influence of their own perceptions, values, and beliefs, but seeking to treat all viewpoints alike, willing to exert a conscious effort to work in a plan fully manner, gathering information, checking for accuracy, and persisting, even when solutions aren't obvious or require several steps. They are organized and systematic in their approach to solving problems and making decisions. They are flexible, able to explore and imagine alternatives, and change approaches and priorities as needed. They are realistic, acknowledging that we do not live in a perfect world, and that the best answers are not always perfect answers. They are creative and committed to excellence, continually evaluating, seeking clarity and accuracy, and looking for ways to improve how things get done.

As a hotel manager/partner/owner, decision making and critical thinking go hand in hand. I work in an environment with a many critical thinkers, and some who have not yet learned the process of critical thinking. I think that other departments, housekeeping, maintenance, and front desk could learn a lot from thinking critically. In the hotel business, we often have sudden issues that may arise that are disadvantageous; example would be not following up on group reservation.
