As Beppu City is surrounded by the bay and the sea, one example that can closely correlate with the topic at hand would be Beppu City's connection with the sea. By means of way, the sea plays a primary role to cities which are built around them, and Beppu City is no exception. Beppu benefits immensely from the bay, and because of it, there is an over increasing amount of tourists and foreigners alike boarding ferries and cruise ships from other ports of major cities, such as Osaka, Kobe, Kitakyushu, and even Busan city in Korea. In essence, it makes a connection between these cities, and creates a complete atmospheric change by encouraging would-be travellers to experience boarding a ferry and enjoying the sights and change of air. So in other words, thanks to the sea and the bay, it brings prosperity, wealth and tourists.

Stretching from around Beppu city to Oita city, from a high viewpoint such as APU, the view is indeed magnificent. The sea glimmers and shines with the radiance of the sun hitting it during the day, and like a portrait, provide the foreground with the city in between it and the sky as its background. There are quite a number of beaches too, which you can walk along, swim in or bask in the sun during a sunny day. The sea makes Beppu city almost picturesque, and is one of the major features that attract many people to visit this small, but lovely city. For instance, everyday when I am at APU, I can stand from the Wave Amphitheatre and look out towards the sea, and I never get tired of it. I guess the calamity of the waters makes it a free, yet priceless view that everybody can enjoy. Another example of how the sea provides much benefit, is that it creates a primary ground for fishermen. There is plenty of fish and seafood to be caught, which is why seafood is plentiful in Beppu City and also fresh. Most of the sushi restaurants in Beppu City have their seafood caught from the waters surrounding it's city, which is also another reason why there are so many sushi train restaurants in Beppu. Once again, it brings much business to the city, and food connoisseurs will certainly satisfy their tastebuds and stomaches whilst exploring Beppu.

However, there cannot be any benefits without disadvantages and issues that may come about at the same time, as it's a natural phenomenon of 'To take, you must give'. While Beppu City and its residents reap the wealth, benefits and popularity as a whole, It potentially causes harm to the sea and it's natural inhabitants. To start it off, everyday, there are at least 2-3 passenger cruise ships that traverse via Beppu's ferry port. As a result, the tonnes of pollution and waste that is used to run their fuel and spin the turbines are dumped in tonnes into the ocean and air. Naturally, the hazardous waste affects the organisms such as fish, birds, and other wildlife that the sea is home to.

Furthermore, there is still the ongoing world
