As we talk about energy, it is considered to be the backbone of an economy, the most essential mechanism of socioeconomic development. Energy is not only important for the economy but also its supply is unsure. Energy is a strategic source which has impact on outcomes of wars, economic development and as well as cleaning up the environment.

In now a day‟s world rapid growth in demand of energy due to domestic and industrial use indicates that energy will be amongst the biggest problem for the world in upcoming era and hence needs the alternative for renewable energy sources. Traditional theories consider the labor and the capital as the major source of production and not take in to consideration about the importance of energy in the process of growth and some other theories consider labor, capital and technology as the base of economic growth.

Today if we see around us we found that energy is playing the vital role in the production and consumption process. The countries in the developing stage of economy are mostly supported by energy. When we consider the energy demand, it seems that electricity is the Poirier and its role in energy consumption on its high level followed by natural gas, petroleum and coal. These results emerged when prices of the energy per unit are taken in to consideration.

The consumption of industrial and domestic use of energy has vital effect for long and short term changes in economic activities so it is important to forecast for the current and future need for the energy in order to focus on nature of demand of energy and for that it‟s compulsory to determine relationship between energy consumption prices and output and also important for the measurement of expenses on consumption, demand management and development of strategies for future requirements of the energy.

Giving the top importance to energy for the consumption prototype and production activities, we will analyze the disaggregate level of demand in the Pakistan. In Pakistan the economic structure contains available technologies, transport and rural urban structure and life style that are generally different from those of developed countries. This situation demands the estimation of income and price elasticity of demand of each type of energy consumption, which indicates the possibilities and limitations of alternative energy control policies.
