Just by looking at my boyfriend Calvin's urban dress style, face full of hair, and intimidating stare, you would probably think he is unruly, ignorant, and uneven; In fact he's the exact opposite. He's very kind hearted, intelligent, and well-polished.

It's rare for me to see someone in my area of Philadelphia give to the less fortunate. About a year ago Calvin and I were leaving out of the post office, on our way to lunch, when an older man stopped us and asked Calvin to spare him a few coins. He insisted that the coins were for a hot dog from a street cart, nearby. Calvin reached in his wallet and pulled a few ones out and handed them to the man, then told him to buy himself a meal.

Upon entrance to the olive garden on 13th and chestnut, he spotted a young girl named Anyae and a young child about 8 months old named Alise. Anyae informed us she had been turned away from her family and that she hadn't eatin in two days. He looked at me, and held his head low then invited her and her child to join us for lunch. While eating she began to tell us stories of her events in which left her homeless. She explained how her mother passed and her older sister abandoned her from their home in the north Philadelphia area.

After hearing the heart wrenching story, Calvin offered to take buy her and her child a new outfit and take them to a nearby shelter. He helped her, get into the shelter, and even offered to find her a permanent home for her, and her child. He began researching schools for her to attend and homes for the infant as well. He became an unknown spokesperson for her and the infant. He sat in on meetings and eventually was able to even give a few ideas, such as Anyae, and baby alise being summited into a mother baby program.

It was Calvin's sense of compassion and love for each soul that was displayed during these events. I commend him as much as I can for being, so kind hearted, intelligent, and well-polished of a man than he may portray.
