We've come to know that Halloween as a time to dress up and go out trick or treating, or host a costume party. Even if someone like me and you don't have much idea what Halloween was, we would know it is a spooky holiday from some popular Halloween symbols such as witches, ghosts, vampires, skeletons, jack-o'-lanterns and black cats. These symbols have helped people to get in the spirit of Halloween and we can feel the spooky atmosphere in the celebration. And now, I would like to introduce about Halloween by telling a joke.

Why do witches use brooms to fly on?

Because vacuum cleaners are too heavy...

No Halloween party will be completed without Halloween games. The tradition of trick-or-treating has been a part of Halloween festivities. The event takes place on Halloween night and, generally involves costumed children walking through the neighborhood knocking on their neighbors' doors. A decorated home was usually a sign that trick-or-treaters were welcomed. "Trick or treat?" the child asks. The adult then usually doles out candy, cookies, other sweets, apples or even money to the youngster. This offering is indeed an agreement that the kid will not play a trick on the home owner. Some home owners will choose to either be away for the night or hideaway inside with the lights off and the tricks like soaping windows, or redecorating a home with eggs or toilet paper were usually played on them.

Halloween food for children is about more than the sweets they pick up while trick-or-treating. Many parents host Halloween parties and the food can add to the overall appeal of the party. The key is to keep it spooky without going overboard. The graveyard cake is something that is quite special. The general idea is to create a cemetery. Use cookie crumbles for dirt or green icing for grass, and use cookie to create tombstones while marshmallows or whipped cream make ghosts. Besides that, some people will slice hot dogs to create a "worm" effect. Mix the cooked hot dog slices with ketchup and add to a bun to make a tapeworm sandwich.

On Halloween, it was believed that the spirits and ghosts of the dead came back to the earth. People will wear masks and "dressed up" in an outfit to look like one of the spirits to avoid being recognized as one of the living. Halloween costumes are often designed to imitate supernatural and scary beings. Costumes are traditionally those of monsters such as vampires, ghosts, skeletons, witches, and devils, or in more recent years such as they will dress like aliens and superheroes. There are also costumes of pop culture figures like presidents, actors, celebrities, or film and television characters. Another popular trend is for women to use Halloween as an excuse to wear sexy or revealing costumes, showing off more skin than would be socially acceptable otherwise.
