My definition of love is a passionate affection for another person or feeling of warm personal attachment as for a parent, child, or friend; sexual passion or desired. In Jane Eyre, Jane and Mr. Rochester love each other very much. Mr. Rochester is Jane's first lover and she is the first woman that has loved his personality, not because of money. In this novel, love is a greater value than reason and imagination, and this can be proved by the struggles that Jane, Mr. Rochester, and Mr. Rivers had to go through to find the right love.

First of all, Jane struggles to find some type of love throughout the novel. In the beginning the novel, when Jane was little, she wanted to be loved by her aunt and cousins, but they didn't love her back. For example, Jane said, "Because it is the truth. You think I have no feelings and that I can do without one bit of love or kindness; but I cannot live so: and you have no pity." Then, in the middle of the novel Jane falls in love with Mr. Rochester, her boss. He doesn't love Jane at first, and because of that Jane had to go through a lot of pain. However, eventually he tells Jane that he loves her back. When they were about to get married, she finds out that he is already married. After that, she had to choose if loving Mr. Rochester is the right thing to do or should she move on. Also, by the end of the novel she finally finds the love of her family. Jane always had wanted to be loved by someone that was blood related and now she finally found that. From the beginning of the novel she was brutally beaten by her aunt and now she found cousins that loved and cherished her. For example, Jane said, "It seemed I had found a brother: one that I could be proud of, one I could love, and two sister, whose qualities were such, that, when I ....." According to this novel love is a greater value than imagination and reason, this is shown through how Jane struggles to find love.

On the other hand, Mr. Rochester had a lot of people who loved him but he didn't know which ones loved him for the way he was, and not because of his money. For example, Miss Ingram only loved Mr. Rochester because of his wealth, but he didn't know that at that time. However, Jane loved him because he was the first guy that loved her back and not because of his wealth. In this case, Mr. Rochester had to find out who loved him because of the way he was. An example is when Mr. Rochester said, "What loves have I for Miss Ingram? None: and that you know. What love has she for me? None: as I have taken pains to prove: I caused a rumor to reach her that my fortune was not a third of what was supposed, and after that I presented myself to see the result; it was coldness both from her and her mother. I would not - I could not - marry Miss Ingram. You - strange - you almost unearthly thing: - I love as my own flesh." Another example of a person that didn't love Mr. Rochester because of the way he is was his own father. Mr. Rochester's father gave all his property to his older son, and this shows that he didn't love Mr. Rochester. If he had, then he would
