At Last Resort, we strive to serve men and women who are facing the illness of addiction and want to achieve sobriety. At Last Resort for many individuals our experience has shown that once alcohol, and drugs are removed, the individual will successfully complete our residential program and be free from the bondage of addiction.

Last Resort is a non-profit Social Model Recovery Home, funded in part by the County of San Diego. Our facility is Licensed and Certified by the State of California, with the capacity of 50 beds. This agency offer client's family members workshops on Family Dynamics. In addition, our agency offers an array of services, the following are the services offered:

* Job Readiness- Educating the clients on important points in writing resumes, mock interviews, and preparation for getting his or her GED

* Alcohol and Other Drug problems (AOD) Education- Physiological effects, psychological effects, social effects, pharmacological aspects and characteristics of families with Alcohol and Other Drug Problems (AOD)

* Relapse Prevention-Educating the clients on triggers that make the recovery person want to use again.

* Family Violence Education- Information is given to clients to identify with, Domestic Violence (DV), as the perpetrator or victim, child abuse, and elder abuse.

* Process Groups- this allows the residents to talk about his or her feeling and get feedback from his or her peers.

* Communicable Disease Information- Educating the clients about HIV, Aids, and STD's

* Self Help Groups- Successful recovery is achieved through 12-step meeting, and addressing issues of addiction.

* Life Skills- teaches clients survivor shills such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting money, writing a check and prioritizing

Last Resort will encounter many difficult problems and issues, while achieving our goals. One of the main problems will be clients who arrive at our facility with Behavior Health issues; this issue goes hand and hand with the disease of addiction. A large number of addicts and alcoholics were prescribed, medication for his or her mental problems but when the addict escalate prescription medication is abused and other medication is replaced with mind altering drugs. Another issue will be that men and woman will be living at the same residents, recovering people needs something to fill the empty void of his or her addiction. When you remove the drugs and alcohol, the recovering person immediately go into a relationship; recovery people need someone to love after losing his or her best friend. In addition, family problems will arise because the mind no longer medicated with mind-altering drugs and the clients start to feel feelings.
