In 1981, Monsanto focus on transform to field of biotechnology. In 1990, Monsanto transferred all about the chemical products business to a newly established named Solutia Company and also left a lot of litigations about chemical to Solutia. So Monsanto became to an agriculture enterprise. Now Monsanto's major operation area are Latin America, Canada, US, Europe, Africa and Asia-Pacific.

Monsanto go abroad because it can help it exploiting firm-specific competitive advantages. It can seek resource, market and labor. Weakness is that Monsanto risk from its Roundup, it can pollute to the environment and threat human's health. And its pesticide for transgenic beans kills animals.
