Poverty Case

Poverty has been a part of our world for decades. About 25,000 people die every day from hunger- related issues, sadly majority of them just so happen to be children. There may be plenty of food in the world to feed everyone however many of these people live in severe poverty and do not have the necessary benefits such as money to purchase food to nourish their bodies. The lack of food makes it easier for many to become weaker and harder for them to work, and without work comes no income to make a living. This downward spiral continues until it reaches the point of death. Poverty not only leads to many deaths around the world, it also leads to violence. Vigorous crimes are being committed due to the fact of inequality. Being that these people are unable to finance their needs they become subjected to robbery and thefts enable to provide their families with security. In several other countries many of the parents are forced into exploiting their children in order to gain income to provide for their families. These are the kind of actions being taken by low income people because they feel as if there not given the same opportunities as others.

Poverty is the state of being extremely poor or being inferior to quality or insufficient in amount. When a person is affected by poverty it can be a variety of different things that puts them in that category. If a person doesn't have food or access to it than that would make them apart of poverty. Lack of food, not having shelter, not being able to see a doctor, not being able to go to school or not being able to read, and not having a job are all things that are apart of poverty. Basically any means of being without is poverty. Poor people are the ones that are really feeling the effects of poverty. They are the ones with less access to healthcare, education, and other services. They have little representation or voice to speak for them on political and public debates. This makes it even harder for people to move out of poverty. Being wealthy makes it able to benefit from political programs and things like that. At least 80% of humanity lives on less than $10 a day. Also more than 80 percent of the world's populations live in countries where income differentials are widening. 22,000 children dies each day from poverty. They die in some of the poorest villages and far away from the world's scrutiny. They are said to die quietly; meek and weak in life makes these children even more invisible in death. Somewhere around 27-28 percent of all children in the developing countries are considered to be underweight or stunted in growth. The two parts of the world that make up the bulk of this percentage are South Asia and sub-Saharan Africa. Because of the slow progress in these two areas and the continuation of the current trends; the Millennium Development Goals target of halving the proportion of underweight children will be missed by 30 million children. Also, 72 million children of school age in the developing world were not in school in 2005 and 57 percent of them were girls. The number of people that entered into the 21st century without the ability to read a book or sign their names was at nearly a billion. Infectious diseases also continue to make an impact in the lives of the poor all over the world. Every year 350-500 million cases of malaria and 1 million fatalities. Africa accounts for 90 percent of malarial deaths and African children account for over 80 percent of malaria victims worldwide. When you look at all these facts it shows that the children are the ones that are being greatly affected by poverty. We can't just keep letting them die by not trying to help them.

Poverty causes affect some of the global social changes in the world today because so many people are not in work so many of them refuse to socialize to get a job. They would rather do things that are illegal like seal drugs and destroy the population with their drugs. As we discussed in class we were told that crime causes poverty and not that poverty causes crime. As we were told is that crime cause's poverty because crime in an area affects businesses to not want to come to such an area with high crime, but being honest it is crime in all areas. No matter of what type of area it is it has crime. Poverty is an issue that affects lots of places around the world. Crime in rural areas with high population the highest crime rate of crime because not everyone is qualified to have a job or either their criminal background is the reason they are not able to get a job because they are a felon.
