There are different types of slavery: bonded labor, forced labor, slavery by descent, trafficking, child labor, plantation, urban slaves, and slaves that worked in the mines. For someone to be considered a bond labor slave, they would have to take, or be tricked into, a loan. The loan was not more than the cost of medication for a child because it was not a lot of money. The only way they could repay it was to work long hours. Slaves had to work all day long with their pay being food and shelter; thus, even though they did the field or house work the loan was never repaid. This cycle could continue for generations and generations.

Early and forced marriage only refers to the females. They are married with no say and forced into servitude. Forced labor only concerns the people who are abducted and forced to work by individuals and the government. Slavery by descent describes the people that are born into slavery. They could also come from a group that the society thinks is suitable to be used as slaves. People who are part of slave trafficking are the ones who are moved from one area to another and forced to remain in servitude. The worst forms of child labor are the children that work in an environment, which is harmful to the child's health and welfare.

The plantation slaves are those that produced cotton, sugar, rice, and tobacco and the urban slaves are the slaves that worked in the house, as handcrafters, or as transporters. There were also different types of people that were slaves: indentured slaves, who were the people that worked for another person without pay. In this regard Indians were slaves like African-Americans, and they were also the first to become slaves. There were not just slaves in the United States, but there were slaves that were in Haiti, Liberia, Sudan, Niger, India, Nepal, Pakistan and other countries that wanted to practice slavery.
