Technology has advanced through the years in the human service field. Human service workers provide helpful services to people requiring help. It takes good skills, organization, knowledge, and resources to provide these services. Technology has many tools that can offer help to a human service professional deliver and improve his or her client's life. In the human service field there are many barriers that can be a hinder to the service that a human service professional gives his or her client. Technology can provide information to help solve those barriers, which a human service professional faces in the area of funding, planning, and empowerment in the human service field. The technology of computers is most beneficial to a human service worker because the web- based software used to process, receive, store, convert, and transmit information that saves the agency money down the road. The barriers that a human service professional has to face can be overcome by the use of technology.

Funding

Many human service agencies lack the funds to purchase the necessary technology needed to improve the delivery of service of the lives of his or her clients. Many agencies are not able to purchase new technology can be hard to remove the barriers causing a human service professional not to give efficient service to his or her client. Funding is a problem that a human service professional faces because of the limited funds the government has to give to the human service field. There is only a certain amount of money in the budget to

divide among the human service field. In the human service field a social worker has to collect a large amount of detailed information about his or her clients. The first visit the case worker will get the client to fill out a paper application to ensure that the client is eligible for the programs he or she applied for during the visit with the case worker. Paper base data is still usable by some social workers today but the information technology has made advancement through time by putting the client's data on the computer. This will save paper for the use of something else and instead of putting the client's file in a folder and filing the information it can then be put in the computer.

Each client's personal information is kept safe and confidential from others. Clients' receiving services from several agencies, it is vital that the other case worker has access to the client's history to help the client in an efficient way. With the technology of today software systems help a human social worker manage his or her data that needs to be kept, reduce the errors he or she makes, and to communicate with other human service workers in the field. This technology software will help the social worker to be correct when helping his or her client get the proper service he or she needs, and the software will be cost- effective to the agency. All human service agencies have to be in compliance with federal and state regulations.
