Today's Television

Television, whether it is good or bad, is a subjective subject. I, though, believe it is both good and bad. It all depends on the show that is watched. A show one person may think is bad to watch, another may not. Again, it's all an opinion. The are some pretty corrupted shows out there that can destroy young person's mind, than there are some very informative and educational shows on television.

Shows that are about drugs, sex, and violence are just not good for the human psyche, especially children or people entering adolescence, because chances are they will apply the same ideas to their own life. There are so many kids these days in junior high and high school that do very ignorant things just because they have seen it on TV and feel that it is accepted just because of that. It's not surprising anymore to about a kid getting caught with drugs or alcohol in school or young teenage women getting pregnant when they have so much ahead of them. Of course, not all of it is contributed from TV but a big part of it is.

In contrast to the bad things, there are some very informative and intellectual shows on television that can teach people some very useful and good information. It's never bad to flip to the discovery channel and learn something about nature or turn it to the history channel and learn how the state of Oklahoma got its shape. The news is also a great thing to watch. A person needs to keep up with what is going on in this world because one never knows what could be going on that is directly affecting them.

Although there are good and bad things about TV there are also things that hover in between. There are some forms of the TV that display sex, drugs, and corruption that are not a good thing to just down and watch but at the same time one needs to know how the world really is out there. A child can't grow up his/her whole life without watching something that depicts this world how it really it is, than enter it without having any knowledge of what goes on out there. Instead they need to be accurately informed so they can know how not to become a statistic or maybe even try and change it.

All in all TV can either be good or bad or in between. People can use the information they see on TV for the good or bad. They can watch a show about drugs than go off and try them or they can use the information for the better and do whatever they can to keep away from them. It's all about a person's mentaliti
